Values

We sum up our values with the words: BE responsible - THINK ahead - INNOVATE. It is our responsibility, our foresight and our focus on creating ground-breaking solutions and ideas that have made us one of the world's leading pump manufacturers.

Products

With an annual production of more than 16 million pump units Grundfos is one of the world's leading pump manufacturers. Circulator pumps (UP), submersible pumps (SP) and centrifugal pumps (CR) are the three major product groups. Today, Grundfos is the world's largest manufacturer of circulator pumps, covering approximately 50 per cent of the world market for these pumps.

pumps

In addition to pumps, Grundfos manufactures electric pump motors and also produces electric motors for separate merchandising. Grundfos also develops and sells state-of-the-art electronics for controls for pumps and other systems.

Applications

Circulator pumps are used for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning in domestic housing, and commercial and municipal buildings such as office blocks and hotels.

In industry, pumps are used in production and other processes as well as in plant maintenance. Furthermore, pumps are sold as built-in parts in OEM products (Original Equipment Manufacture).

In the water-supply and waste-water segment, Grundfos offers a wide range of reliable pumps for irrigation, green houses and for municipal, private and industrial water supply as well as sewage applications.

Global expansion

The Grundfos Group is represented by companies in all parts of the world. In addition, Grundfos products are sold by distributors in a large number of countries.

Establishment

Grundfos was established in 1945 by the late Poul Due Jensen. At first he gave his company the name of "Bjerringbro Pressestøberi og Maskinfabrik" (Bjerringbro Die-Casting and Machine Factory) and not until 1968, after a series of name changes, was the company given its current name, GRUNDFOS.

Ownership

The Poul Due Jensen Foundation was established as a self-governing institution in 1975. Today, the foundation owns about 85 per cent, staff about 3% and the founder's family about 12 per cent of shares in Grundfos Holding AG. The aim of the foundation is to consolidate and expand the economic basis of the continued development of the Grundfos Group. The capital and the profits of the foundation are to be used solely to further the objectives of the foundation, meaning the profits are to be re-invested in the Grundfos companies.

Grundfos Holding AG is the majority shareholder in all the Grundfos companies.

Research and Development

In order to maintain a leading position, Grundfos attaches great importance to Research & Development. In the 2007 financial year alone, for example, Grundfos invested DKK 628m in research and development.

At Grundfos Business Development (BD) in Bjerringbro there is constant focus on expanding the company's existing business areas and improving the products. Improving energy efficiency of future products is one of the highest current priorities.

Besides the existing business areas of BDC, Grundfos New Business aims to develop new and innovative business areas which focus on sustainable processes and technologies.

Employment policies

Grundfos invests in its employees. To stay ahead, staff levels of skills and motivation must be extremely high. Ongoing training of Grundfos employees is therefore essential. The Poul Due Jensen Academy - Grundfos' own educational facility - is one of our most recent examples of our commitment to ongoing education and training. Each day, on average, between two and three per cent of all Grundfos employees can be found attending training sessions or courses - at Grundfos' own training centre in Bjerringbro, at the industrial college in Bjerringbro or at other educational institutions.

Quality certification

In 1989, Grundfos A/S, as the first pump manufacturer in the world, was certified according to the quality standard ISO 9001. In 1991, Grundfos GmbH, Germany, attained the same ISO certification and in the years that followed, all other Grundfos companies attained ISO certification.

Grundfos production companies have all achieved ISO 9002 certification, which is a guarantee of high standards of quality assurance within production.

Environmental certification

All Grundfos production companies meet the stringent international environmental standards of ISO 14001, and are ISO 14001 certified. They have also been approved by the EU Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and our European-based companies are now registered with EMAS.

In addition the Danish-based production company is ISO 18001 certified - proving it meets the high ISO standards for health and safety in the workplace.
